The month of February is Career & Technical Education (CTE) month! Each week we will be spotlighting a different CTE area from MVHS. We are kicking it off early this week and our first spotlight is BUSINESS! Mrs. Carrie Kohl is the business instructor and has been teaching at MVHS for the last 24 years. Business classes that students can take include Intro to Business, Computer Applications, Accounting I, and Accounting II. Students who take at least 4 semesters of business classes can earn a Business Completer Certificate which is then awarded at the Awards Day during their senior year. She is also the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) advisor. One of the major components of FBLA is running the school store known as MoJoe’s Café & Market. Students also participate in service projects and fundraisers as well as attending leadership conferences.

🎉 Exciting News from Missouri Valley Middle School! 🎉 This semester, MVMS has launched a TIER II Intervention Time to support ALL students! 📚✏️ As part of this initiative, our students take a reading and math diagnostic test three times a year. From the results of the diagnostic , iReady creates a personalized "My Path" tailored to each student's individual needs. During the first half of Homeroom time, students work hard on their My Path lessons. 💡 Our School-Wide Goal: Pass 300 My Path lessons per week. 💥 Our First Week Result: Over 500 lessons completed! A huge shoutout to Mr. Cihacek's homeroom for earning the title of "Homeroom of the Week" with the highest average of passed lessons per student! 🙌 👏 Amazing job, Mr. C’s homeroom, and all our MVMS students for starting the year strong! Keep up the great work! #MVPride
