Our middle and high school teachers spent Wednesday afternoon diving into AI 101. From learning the basics of generative AI to exploring ways it can support diverse learners, our staff is committed to staying at the forefront of educational innovation. 🤖📚

Eighth grade literacy students wrapped up their novel study of “Monster” by Walter Dean Myers with creative character webs created in Google Docs or Slides. 📖
Using Kagan strategies like Gallery Walk and Rotating Lines, students took turns presenting and listening as they rotated through stations to share their work. Great collaboration and communication all around!

Fourth-grade students at Missouri Valley Elementary put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test using 3D printer pens to build butterflies! 🦋
Students designed and printed each body part on paper, then used the pens to weld the pieces into full 3D creations. They were challenged to make the butterflies stand on their legs without any help.

Students explored Music Lab: Jam Session, where they remixed songs by artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, and Shakira—all while learning coding skills like sequencing and creating beats with AI. It was a fun and engaging way to combine music, technology, and creativity! 🎶

The Missouri Valley CSD Board held its regular meeting on December 8. Board President Jeff Janssen presided over his final meeting, concluding 12 years of dedicated leadership. Thank you, Jeff, for your service to our students, staff, and community! 🎉
During the meeting, Carrie Watson was sworn in as a re-elected board member, and Jessie Dewaele took the oath as a new board member.
The board also elected new officers: John Ferris will serve as Board President, and Carrie Watson will serve as Vice President. 📚
